At this time, the Pacific Music Awards Trust and our Pacific music community send their thoughts and prayers to His Worship Mayor Len Brown and his family. Mayor Len Brown has been a genuine and significant supporter of the awards and our Pacific artists. This was truly evident at our awards evening. Our priority and attention is on his health and recovery.
The S³ Pacific Music Awards were held on Saturday 31st May, at the TelstraClear Pacific events centre in Manukau City. The 2008 awards ceremony is a true celebration of Pacific music and involves 9 award presentations and live performances by Three Houses Down, Cydel, Vaniah Toloa, Kas Futialo, Julie Ta'ale, Lole Usoalii and Nesian Mystik. Finalists for the S³ Pacific Music Awards were announced at a Civic Reception hosted by His Worship Mayor Len Brown and Manukau City Council, on Thursday 1 May. The categories announced were: Best Pacific Group, Best Pacific Female Artist, Best Pacific Urban Artist, Best Pacific Male Artist, Best Pacific Song, Best Pacific Music Album. Also being presented at the 2008 awards will be the Lifetime Achievement Award, Phillip Fuemana Award and the inaugural People's Choice Award.
